Configuring a Forms Experience Builder task provider instance

The task provider retrieves Forms applications from IBM® Forms Experience Builder and surfaces them in the Unified Task List portlet.

Before you begin

  • Log in to IBM WebSphere® Portal as the administrator.
  • Log in to the WebSphere Integrated Solutions Console. Configure single sign-on with LTPA tokens between the WebSphere Portal and Forms Experience Builder servers.
  • Configuring SSO and LTPA keys
    Configure the single sign-on (SSO) and LTPA keys between the IBM WebSphere Portal and IBM Forms Experience Builder servers. When the user is authenticated in portal, it is not necessary to log in again to access the backend servers. For example, when a Form is retrieved from the Forms Experience Builder server and rendered on a portal page.
  • Configuring the HTTP Outbound connection in WebSphere Portal
    Configure the proxy server in IBM WebSphere Portal. To avoid cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerabilities, many browsers deny JavaScript commands on a remote server. The commands are denied because the remote server is on a different domain than the WebSphere Portal server. Therefore, the function of Forms that are created on Forms Experience Builder are limited. When you configure the HTTP Outbound connection, a proxy rule is enabled on the portal server that allows the JavaScript commands on the remote server.
  • Installing the Forms Experience Builder portlet
    To render the IBM Forms Experience Builder on a portal page, an Administrator must deploy the Forms Experience Builder portlet on that page. If the Forms Experience Builder portlet is not installed with Forms Experience Builder, you can manually install it.
  • Deploying the Forms Experience Builder portlet
    To use the Forms Experience Builder portlet, you must deploy and configure the portlet on a portal page.
  • Configuring the task provider instance
    After all the required components are set up, an Administrator can connect the Unified Task List to the remote IBM Forms Experience Builder instance. After this configuration, the Unified Task List portlet starts to list the Forms application instances that are available to users logged in to IBM WebSphere Portal.
