Ethernet to RS232 Serial Bridge

The ELK-IP232 is an Ethernet to RS-232 Serial Port Bridge. It may be used to connect any standard serial communications device such as a PC, an audio/video distribution system, etc., to an Ethernet network. It allows bi-directional communication between the two. It operates as both a network server and a client, which means it is able to both initiate and accept network connections. Once a network connection is made, the remote networked device or computer is virtually connected to the serial device on the other side of the Bridge. Both the network device and the serial device can send and receive messages to and from each other. Up to twelve network devices may be connected simultaneously. Data sent from any one of them is bridged to the serial port. Data received on the serial side is transmitted to all connected network devices. The bridge can send and receive both UDP and TCP packets.

  • Up to twelve (12) "Rules" may be programmed to make outgoing connections.

Serial Port Expander & Thermostat/Lighting Interface

The ELK-M1XSP is a "3 in 1" product for additional serial ports and for integration with lighting systems and thermostats. Jumpers on the M1XSP select the appropriate application, connection, and protocol. Best of all, the M1XSP operates from the 4-wire (RS-485) M1 Keypad data bus, allowing RS-232 ports to be located long distances from the control. The M1 Gold and M1EZ8 support up to 7 M1XSPs. Economy 4 to 8 Zone Expansion Module

The capacity of the GEM-P816 and GEM-P1632 control panels may be expanded through the use of GEM-EZM4/8 zone expansion module. Each GEM-EZM4/8 module provides up to 16 additional zones. It may be configured in a number of methods: 4 zones, 8 zones, 12 zones or 16 zones. Using any of these configurations, several GEM-EZM4/8 modules may be combined as necessary to supply the required number of zones to the GEM-P816 and GEM-P1632 control panels. Refer to the GEM-P816 Installation Instructions (WI994) and GEM-P1632 Installation Instructions (WI808) for wiring requirements for UL-listed applications. Note: The GEM-P816 is limited to 16 zones.
